Turning alerts off from an email
Open the link, then confirm
The unsubscribe link in an alert email opens /alerts/unsubscribe?token= with a token attached. Opening that page does not change your alert settings. You must press Turn off all alerts before anything is updated.
That confirmation step protects your account from email security scanners and link preview tools. Those services can open links before you read a message, but they cannot submit the confirmation button on the page.
Understand what the token can do
The token can turn the account-wide alert preference off. It cannot turn alerts on, change an individual saved item's settings, or alter other account data. If someone else sees the link, its only permitted action is the same narrow unsubscribe action.
To re-enable alert emails, sign in and open the Saved work library. Use the account-wide Alert emails switch there, then review individual items if you also want to change what is monitored.
Keep your saved work
Turning alerts off from the email leaves saved searches, offerings, providers, skills, comparable sets, and other library items untouched. It changes delivery, not the work you saved.
After the change succeeds, CredScape shows a confirmation on the page and sends a confirmation email to the address on the account. If the token is no longer valid, sign in and manage alert delivery from the library instead.
