Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated 2026-08-11
Welcome to CredScape. This Acceptable Use Policy outlines the rules and guidelines for accessing and using our market-intelligence platform. CredScape is owned and operated by CredScape Market Intelligence Inc., a corporation incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act.
By accessing or using our website, database, or services, you agree to comply with this policy. If you do not agree with these terms, you must not use our platform.
1. About CredScape
CredScape (credscape.io) is a market-intelligence data product built for higher education. We aggregate and structure publicly available information about non-credit and micro-credential programs. These programs are offered by Canadian and US post-secondary institutions, as well as major platform providers like Coursera and edX.
Our customers are Continuing and Professional Education units inside public universities and colleges. We sell annual subscriptions to these organizations. Subscriptions are billed through invoices and purchase orders. Access is allocated to individual users through assigned seats.
CredScape is not a course marketplace for students. We do not sell courses. CredScape is also not a consulting practice. It is a data-driven tool designed to assist with higher education market research and program planning.
2. Who May Use the Platform
Only authorized users may access CredScape. An authorized user is an employee or contractor of a customer organization that has a valid subscription. The organization must assign a specific seat to you.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must not share your seat credentials with any other person. This includes coworkers within your own organization. If you need additional team members to access the platform, your organization must purchase additional seats.
You must notify us immediately at support@credscape.io if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.
3. Permitted Uses
We encourage you to use CredScape to support your institution's strategic goals. You are permitted to use the platform and its data for the following activities:
- Internal Institutional Analysis: You can use our data to analyze market trends, evaluate program gaps, and compare offerings across institutions.
- Program Planning: You can use the platform to research, design, and plan new non-credit courses and micro-credentials for your institution.
- Board and Committee Reporting: You can include data from CredScape in internal reports, presentations, and briefings for your board, academic senate, or internal committees. You must attribute the data to CredScape.
- Quoting Figures in Reports: You can quote figures and statistics from our platform in internal or published reports. You must include a clear attribution. For example, you can write: "Source: CredScape (credscape.io)."
All reports and presentations containing our data must be for the benefit of your institution. You may not use the data for commercial redistribution.
4. Prohibited Activities
To protect the integrity of our dataset and ensure fair access for all users, we prohibit certain activities. You must not engage in any of the following actions:
- Credential Sharing: You must not share your username, password, or login link with anyone else.
- Systematic Export or Scraping: You must not copy, download, scrape, or extract large portions of the CredScape dataset. This includes using automated tools, scripts, web crawlers, spiders, or scrapers.
- Redistribution or Resale: You must not sell, rent, lease, sub-license, distribute, or transfer any data or reports from CredScape to any third party.
- Building a Competing Product: You must not use our dataset, structure, or interface to build a competing database, software application, or data service.
- Circumventing Technical Limits: You must not bypass, disable, or circumvent any security controls, rate limits, export caps, or access barriers built into the platform.
- Automated Individual Decisions: You must not use the data to make automated decisions about individuals. This means you cannot use CredScape data to evaluate admission applications, make hiring decisions, determine credit eligibility, or assess student performance.
5. Usage and Export Limits
We apply technical limits to protect our system resources and dataset integrity. These controls limit the number of exports and searches you can perform within a given timeframe.
Seat counts, export allowances, and request rate limits are set out in your organization's subscription agreement and order form, because they vary by plan. Your administrator can confirm the limits that apply to your organization, or you can ask us at support@credscape.io.
You must not attempt to bypass these limits by using multiple accounts, scripting tools, or other methods.
6. Enforcement and Penalties
If we detect a violation of this policy, we will take action to protect our platform and customers. We apply enforcement steps in the following order:
- Notice: We will send a written warning to the email address on your account. We will explain the detected violation and ask you to stop.
- Throttling: We may temporarily reduce your platform speed, search capacity, or download limits if the violation continues.
- Suspension: We will temporarily disable your account and access to the platform. We will contact your organization's primary billing representative to resolve the issue.
- Termination: We will permanently close your account and cancel your organization's subscription. We will not issue refunds for subscriptions terminated due to policy violations.
We reserve the right to skip these steps and immediately suspend or terminate access if we detect severe security threats or massive automated data scraping.
