The market scope switcher and the pages it does not affect

Two pages share the switcher

The benchmark-market switcher appears on Market composition and the provider directory. Choose Canada or the United States to rerun the page within that market. On Market composition, the selection changes course shares, provider or regional distributions, credential and delivery views, institution counts, and eligible price statistics. On Providers, it changes the directory and its composition view.

The selected value is carried in the page URL. A link can therefore preserve the market when you share or revisit that page.

The choice is local, not global

The switcher does not set an account-wide market. It does not narrow Search, Browse offerings, Compare, Comparable sets, Labour market, Opportunity, the library, profile, or settings. Search spans the full index unless you apply its own catalogue, institution-location, provider, or provider-type filters.

That boundary prevents a market choice made for one chart from silently changing a later research task. When geography matters on another page, use the controls on that page.

Read the market with its method

For the currency and median boundary behind Market Composition, read How prices are reported. Course shares count courses only.

The provider directory defaults to higher education and lets you broaden that class separately. Market and provider class are distinct boundaries. Choosing the United States does not automatically mean every provider type, and choosing All provider classes does not extend the geographic market.
