Ad Intelligence

What Ad Intelligence shows

Open Ad Intelligence to see advertising activity from continuing education units at Canadian universities and colleges. The overview includes:

  • Headline numbers: live ads, the change from the previous month, new ads by week and the split by platform.

  • Program activity: advertising by program area across the last 12 months.

  • Advertising calendar: live ads by month, with the busiest and quietest months marked.

  • My competitors: each selected unit's live ads, new ads in the last 30 days, platforms, longest-running ad, top program area and monthly activity.

  • Activity over time: average live ads per unit for your competitors compared with all continuing education units.

  • Latest ads: the newest ads, with links to view and save them.

Switch between All CE units and My competitors to set the scope of the headline numbers, program activity, calendar and latest ads.

Browsing and saving ads

The ad library lets you search ad text and filter by unit, platform, program area, live or ended status, and first-seen date. You can limit results to your competitors and sort by newest or longest running.

Open an ad to see its image, stored text, first- and last-seen dates, landing site and a link to the original in the platform's public ad library. Save an ad to your Saved work library to return to it, organise it in a folder, add notes or share it with your team. Saving a repeat of the same ad keeps one saved ad.

Where the data comes from

Ads come from the public Meta Ad Library and LinkedIn Ad Library. Google coverage will follow; it is shown as Not yet collected until data is available. Data is refreshed monthly on the 1st. The overview shows the latest update and the next scheduled refresh.

What counts

Counts use distinct ads. A repeat of the same ad counts once in each period it was live.

Only ads for a continuing education unit's own offerings count. Ads for credit programs, other faculties, events, research and hiring are excluded. Ads whose continuing education status is uncertain are excluded from counts.

Coverage is limited to continuing education units at universities and colleges. Independent training organisations and platforms such as Coursera and edX are excluded.

Choosing competitors

Pick up to 10 continuing education units in My competitors. Use Edit competitors to change your selection. You receive a monthly email with their new ads. You can turn this email off in alert settings.

The calendar and Meta history

The calendar counts an ad as live in a month when its observed first- to last-seen dates overlap that month. The calendar and program activity show which platforms their history covers. A month without collected data is not a finding that no ads ran.

Meta's public library shows running ads only. Earlier Meta ads that ended before collection began are unavailable, so Meta history builds month by month as CredScape collects it. LinkedIn supplies historical coverage. The calendar covers one year until a second year has been collected.

What is not shown

Ad Intelligence shows no spend or budget figures. The platforms do not publish spend for Canada, and CredScape does not estimate it. Ad counts describe advertising activity, not how much a unit spends.
